ANGEL FALLS

We leave for a 3 day excursion in the direction of Canaima National Park.  Venezuela offers many sites to be missed; the impressive cascade of Angel Falls, the highest in the world (979 meters, 807 of which are continuous) certainly appears in the top of the list.  Canoeing, camping at night near the Angel Falls and bathrooms are all part of the program.

Itinerary:

1st Day:
 In the morning, flight from Ciudad Bolivar to Canaima (1 hour and 15 minutes). Boat trip across the Canaima lagoon along the waterfalls Ucaima, Wadaima and Hacha. visit the island Anatoly. Hike across the river island to the 'Playita' (small beach) and the waterfalls 'Sapo' (frog) and 'Sapito' (small frog). Subseqent overnight in habitation with bathroom in the fbase camp in the Indian village by the lagoon. (-/L/D)

2nd Day:
 In the morning, hike to the little port of Ucaima. A four and a half hour boat trip on the rivers 'Carrao' and 'Churrun' to the island 'Ratón'.A one hour hike through the jungle to the base of Salto Angel with swimming opportunities in its natural pool.Afterwards a hike back to a wonderful open-fire barbeque at the camp in front of Angel Falls. Overnight in hammock with mosquitonet. (B/L/D)
 

3rd Day:
  In the morning you return to the Canaima lagoon. Opportunities to swim in the lagoon or visit the Indian village. Opportunities to by artcraft. In the afternoon you fly back to Ciudad Bolivar. (B/L/-)

What you should take with you?

Good walking shoes, sun hat, sun screen, short and long trousers, two shirts, insect repellent, raincoat, flashlight, swimming stuff, sandals, towels and one pullover!

Accommodation:

In a camp and sleeping on hammocks (Angel Fall) and in a posada (Canaima).
