CAURA RIVER

Discover untouched nature!
The Rio Caura river, it crosses a vast jungle area before it reaches the Orinoco River. It's uniqueness is its pristine valley where until today civilization has left no traces. The charm of this area is based on the native culture and the original plants and animals (which are not disturbed during the tour).

Itinerary:

1st Day:
 In the morning (8:00am) transport from Ciudad Bolívar to the village "Las Trincheras" at the Río Caura (3h/30min). Boatstrip river up with Canoa (one tree Boat). Stops in the indian communities like “La Poncha” and “Boca de Nichare”. There you will understand parts of their culture and how the Yecuana Indians are living in hamonie with the nature. Overnight in hammock with mosquitonet in a small “palm-roof-camp” on the riverside of Nichare. (-/L/D) 

2nd Day:
  In the morning we do some jungle walk and after continuing the boat trip through the jungle of  "Cangrejo-Motanias" to el Palayon. It is a big wonderful beach in the heart of this impress flora. Possibility of swimming and fishing.
Overnigth in hammock with mosquitonet in a small canai in the camp of “El Playon. (B/L/D) 

3rd Day:
 Early in the morning we are hiking through the jungle to the spectacular "Para Falls". Getting information about fauna (maybe we see some howler monkeys) and flora in this untouched natural. Walk back to the base camp El Playon. Possibility of swimming and fishing. By night we do a jungle walk and perhaps we can observe some spiders (Tarantulas) or snakes. Overnight in hammock with mosquitonet in a small canai in the camp of “El Playon. (B/L/D)
 

4th Day:
 In the morning possibility of swimming and fishing and after continuing the boattrip down the river. Short stop in a Indian comunity you see their plantations of bananas (Platanos) and Yuca (Maniock).
Overnight in Trincheras in hammock with mosquitonet. (B/L/D)

 

5th Day:  
  Early after breakfast we do a roundtrip with a boat into small lagoons and rivercanos to observe sweetwater delphins an hundtreds of birds.
After lunch we return to Ciudad Bolívar. End of tour. (B/L/-)

What you should take with you?

Good walking shoes, sun hat, sun screen, short and long trousers, two shirts, insect repellent, raincoat, flashlight, swimming stuff, sandals, towels and one pullover!
