Orinoco Delta

Ready for a trip of 3 days in the Orinoco Delta! The delta, a vast network of waterways that are hidden in the heart of vegetation, houses the Warao Indians. In downstream areas, the landscape consists mainly of savannah and gallery forests along the canals, but most will come to penetrate the heart of the mangroves, with trees 30 meters tall. More upstream, we find the thick tropical wet forest, teeming with plant and animal life.

Itinerary:

1st Day:
  Departure in San Jose de Buja. There we start the trip with our boat to visit a smal village, Santa Carolina and other populations in the Delta. You see whow Indians and Criollo people are living in this part of the word with no electricity or other facilitity. This people have small land where they live with some domestic animals and working on their own small plantation or going for fishing and hunting. After you can see the diffrent plants (Canonball tree) and animal (howler monkeys, sweetwater delphin etc.) what you never saw before in your life. Swim possibilities.  In the afternoon we drive back to the camp. Overnight in bed. (-/L/D)

2nd Day:
  In the morning we will visit the “Sierra Imataca”. There we are makeing a jungle walk through this mountains close to the riverside to observe animals which you can not see from the boat. Every body is free fo go for a swim in this clean river. After we hike back to our boat and drive into small river chanel to listen the noises of birds and insects. Late afternoon we go to a place where you can see a incredible sunset. Return to our camp and overnight in bed. (B/L/D)

3rd Day:
  Boat drive to visit the lagoon tortula. Here you can see hundreds of birds and some strange springing fishes who are jumping out of the water when we are pasing with our boat. And maybe, if you are lucky you will fish some Piranias. Return to San Jose de Buja. End of tour (B/L/-)

What you should take with you?

Good walking shoes, sun hat, sun screen, short and long trousers, two shirts, insect repellent, raincoat, flashlight, swimming stuff, sandals, towels and one pullover!
